The one-sentence version
Your conversations are not kept by default. Everything we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and when we delete it is written out item by item below. You do not have to finish the page — remember three things: free, anonymous, not retained.
1. What we collect
- Conversation content: exists only in memory while a conversation is happening, so that the conversation can happen. Conversations are not persisted by default. For the limited set of cases where persistence is necessary — for example carrying a referral forward — content is retained for 30 days and then deleted automatically. It is never used for data analysis, user profiling, or advertising. (Mirrors Article 3 of the Heartye Covenant.)
- Account information: no registration is required to talk to someone. We collect identity and qualification information only if you apply to become a listener, counsellor, or supervisor — and only what the review process actually requires.
- Device and log data: the minimum technical logs needed to keep the service secure (such as access time and fault records).
2. Sensitive personal information
If a future feature genuinely requires processing sensitive personal information — a crisis-referral escalation, for instance — we will ask for your consent separately before you use it, and explain why it is necessary (Article 30). You may refuse. Refusing does not affect your use of any other feature.
3. Minors
Under PIPL Article 31, processing the personal information of children under fourteen requires the consent of a parent or other guardian, together with dedicated processing rules. WeYann is designed for adults. If you are under fourteen, please do not use the conversation service; a guardian may contact us at any time to have relevant information deleted.
4. Your rights
Under Chapter IV of the PIPL you have the right to access, copy, correct, and delete your personal information, and to withdraw consent (Article 15). To exercise any of these, write to hello@heartye.cn. We answer within 15 working days. Withdrawing consent does not invalidate processing already carried out before the withdrawal.
5. What we do not do
- We do not sell or share your personal information with any third party, except where required to cooperate with judicial authorities under law.
- We do not use conversation content to train any AI model.
- We run no advertising, build no user profiles, and make no “you might also like” recommendations.
6. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in substance, we update the version number and effective date at the top of this page and publish a notice on the home page for at least 14 days. Past versions are available on request at hello@heartye.cn.
02Service Boundary & Disclaimer
1. What WeYann is, and what it is not
WeYann provides interpersonal emotional support — a real person who is willing to listen to you right now. It sits between “bearing it alone” and “formal psychological treatment.”
- WeYann is not a medical service. It does not provide psychotherapy, and does not diagnose or treat mental disorders.
- Listeners are trained and supervised, but they are not counsellors or psychiatrists within the national professional qualification framework, and they do not provide professional counselling or medical advice.
- WeYann is not a crisis intervention service.
2. If you are in crisis right now
Please use these first. They can hold more than we can.
Our listeners are trained to recognise crisis. When signals of self-harm or harm to others appear in a conversation, the listener follows the supervision procedure and advises you to contact the resources above. That is not a refusal — it is taking you seriously.
3. On AI
Our AI (the Guardian system) does infrastructure work only: safety monitoring and referral matching. It does not impersonate a human presence and does not generate content that presents itself as human (Covenant Article 6). On the other end of your conversation there is always a real person — traceable to an identity as far as the platform is concerned, anonymous to everyone else.
4. Limitation of liability
WeYann is provided as it stands. To the fullest extent permitted by law we accept no liability for indirect loss arising from use of, or inability to use, this service — but we do not use this clause to escape the obligations we owe participants under the Heartye Covenant. Where this statement and the Covenant disagree, whichever is more favourable to the user governs.
03Accessibility Statement
We are continuously reworking this site toward WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Someone in the middle of an emotional collapse may arrive here in any state at all. This is not a bonus feature; it is the job.
Already in place
- Body text and link text meet WCAG AA contrast (4.5:1); gold is used only for large numerals and timestamps.
- The whole site is keyboard-operable: skip links, visible focus rings, keyboard control of carousels.
- Images have alternative text; buttons have accessible names.
- The system “reduce motion” setting is respected (carousels and breathing animations switch off automatically).
- Page language and structural landmarks (header / nav / main / footer) are complete.
Known limitations
- The site is currently laid out desktop-first; mobile adaptation is on the roadmap.
- Alternative text for some legacy screenshot assets is still being completed.
If anything blocks you, tell us: hello@heartye.cn. We answer within 15 working days.
